Personal injury claims rise
Personal injury claims filed in the High Court rose by 32% between 2006 and 2008
Claims relating to personal injury jumped 31.8% from 914 claims in 2006 to 1 205 claims in 2008, according to research study.
The rise comes as a suprise as the Compensation Act introduced in 2006, was aimed at reducing personal injury claims. The Compensation Act imposed registration requirements on claims management companies and solicitors, and is monitored by the Ministry of Justice's claims management regulator.
One contributing factor to the rise in claims may be the financial recession, with individuals claiming because they were experiencing financial troubles.
