Technical document translation

Important factors to consider before buying technical document translation.

Translation can be a complicated task, especially when dealing with technical document translation. Who do I use? Where should they be based? How do I know if it is an accurate translation of my technical document? All valid questions to ask when discussing a technical document translation with your language service provider.

The answers you want to hear are that the translator is based in their native country and only translates into their mother tongue, so for example an English to French technical manual would be translated by someone living in France. This is essential to ensure the translator is up to date with the latest terminology as languages change all the time with new discoveries and the introduction of new words and techniques. The translator should also have a solid background in the specific technical area, so if it is an engineering document, their background should be engineering for example.

Ensuring that your technical document translation is proofread by a second highly qualified translator in country is essential to ensure quality translation is produced. Any good translation company will only use human translators and humans can and do make mistakes. A proofread translation is looked at by a second pair of eyes and can be checked for correct use of terminology and any typing errors picked up and corrected before submitting the text to you.
